Therapy Types & Special Interests

SPECIAL INTERESTS:

As a male psychologist (which is relatively rare, 75% of the workforce are women) I have found good success with men worried about starting therapy. That said, women are more likely to access therapy and as such my experience has a healthy balance. Please be aware that I do not work with children under the age of 16 and do not conduct Couple's Counselling.

As I work predominantly with referrals from General Practitioners, most of my experience has focused on reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Relationship issues have also formed part of my special interests.

I have been working with the more complex areas of mental health support both in private practice and in permanent roles. This includes extensive experience dealing with people suffering: Drug and Alcohol Issues, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma and PTSD and Adult ADHD.

 THERAPY TYPES:

I have a solid background in both Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and EMDR. This experience helps me focus on both thought-related problems and difficulties managing emotions.

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them” –
Albert Einstein.

Please be aware that I am currently taking on new clients with relatively short wait times of two to three weeks. There was quite a surge of demand with the impacts of COVID but now that has slowed significantly.
